Arella Designs N + 1 Degrees of Excellence

Thank you so much for visiting Arella Designs.

Arella means "winged messenger of God".
I have chosen a petroglyph for my logo which is a character of a praying man.

logo30 I am located in Tucson, Arizona where I share my home with Chinese Crested and Japanese Chin.
My love affair for these breeds began many years ago.   As an artist, I try to capture the life-like look of these dogs for my jewelry and greeting cards.

I grew up on the coast of California and loved it but, for health reasons, moved to Tucson, Arizona.  Tucson is always sunny, with clear blue skies and is surrounded on 3 sides by mountains.  Feeling close to nature is very important to me.  I love that each spring, Great Horned owls nest in my trees.

I received my Bachelors in Fine Arts at UCLA and throughout my life I have been involved in the arts: such as ceramic, porcelain, oil & watercolor painting, wearable art and jewelry, including beading. I have now combined all this experience in creating unique items for my favorite companions:  dogs.

Due to allergies, I have chosen dogs that have hair rather than fur, although I did have a Doberman, Sara, at one time.  My first breed was the miniature schnauzer, with whom I competed in obedience and a bit in conformation. As my life became more complex, however, the grooming became overwhelming.  Enter:  The Chinese Crested Hairless dog! I currently have 4 naked babies plus one 14-year old miniature schnauzer, Teddy, who the Queen of my den!  The Chinese crested hairless dogs are wash and wear, drip dry, with very upbeat temperaments, comical, and very intelligent.  They are the natural canvas of my need to adorn:  with necklaces, fancy collars and clothing.  I do show my crested in conformation and am planning a breeding this winter.

I specialize in using high quality materials for all my creations.  I test all of my products for gentleness to skin.  The jewelry is primarily of Sterling silver.  When gold is preferable, I use gold filled or gold vermeil.  Most of the dog necklaces are strung on strong elasticized nylon cord which I will adjust to the size of your pet.  Where stones are used, they are genuine gemstones or glass, assuming they are not too heavy or breakable.

Where appropriate, I will customize products with your pet’s image, provided you send to me a quality, in focus photograph (can be emailed).
